President Obama Congratulates Jason Collins On Coming Out As Gay (VIDEO)

NBA player?Jason Collins made history by becoming the first male player in major professional sports in the USA to come out as gay. He has received an enormous amount of support for his courage from the NBA, from fans, and, of course, from political leaders and other high-profile personalities. Now, he has even more to be proud of: President Obama congratulated him for his coming out. The President said of his call with Collins:

I told him I couldn’t be prouder of him. One of the extraordinary measures of progress that we’ve seen in this country has been the recognition that the LGBT community deserves full equality.
