How to Survive As a Black person in America

America hasn’t always been the safest place for black people, (http://www.nps.gov/gois/historyculture/civil-war-150th-causes.htm) & (http://www.history.com/topics/slavery), but we always try to come out on top (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p2944.html) and stick up for ourselves (http://www.biography.com/people/rosa-parks-9433715) and take a stand (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8UB-shmJfQ). ?We aspire to higher standards (http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/inventions/10-inventions-by-african-americans.htm) and understand the need to leave a positive legacy for our children (http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1964/king-bio.html) & (http://www.biography.com/people/barack-obama-12782369), even when others try to contradict what so many have accomplished (http://radaronline.com/exclusives/2013/01/all-my-babies-mamas-shawty-lo-reality-show-canceled/), (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ernest-owens/kanye-west-lil-wayne-and-_b_3451226.html), and (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/150998145.html)

It would seem that black people are the most targeted group when it comes to “blaming all for a few”. ?When one witnesses a black man being arrested, it is usually noted that “they” usually do something illegal or “those people” are always doing something etc. etc. etc. ?When one of us is at fault, we understand that we all have to take the blame for it, we have come to terms that for the most part we are judged as a group, more than we are judged as individuals. ?If a black man robs a store, the owner is not scared that another MAN will rob them again, but another BLACK MAN. ?If a woman is raped by a black man, she is usually not so much scared of men, but black men thereafter. ?This of course does not apply to the mindset of all people, but many. ?What history has taught us best is what NOT to do as black people if we want to, at the very least, stay alive and out of jail, even though we don’t all heed these warnings.

  • Do not, under ANY circumstances assume that the laws apply to you. ?This may sometimes be the case, but not ALWAYS. (
