This Week’s 10 Craziest Tea Party Incidents

The human brain, especially the Teabully brain, is often motivated by fear of the ?other?. Last week, Salon.com published an interesting article on the fears of the Teabully causing them to think and to say some of the things that many of us find weird or crazy.

We’re talking about race, ethnicity, class or some other way humans have found to separate from each other.

And while the writer of the Salon piece pointed out that both Conservatives and Liberals are prone to making wild mischaracterizations of the other side, Lynn Stuart Parramore raised something that must go into this new list of ten right wing fantasies.

1) While we all know that President Barack Hussein Obama is a Black, Socialist, Muslim sent from Kenya to destroy the American economy and the American way of life, we now know that he is:

The incarnation of a malevolent force that will take from them and give to Others. He is both the incarnation and the welcoming committee for the Stranger who doesn’t belong in America.

We know that there is some grain of truth that the President is of mixed race, and his father was from Kenya and he does support the social democratic agenda, to the extent that many Progressives would say is only moderate or at best limited. And now, thanks to Teabully paranoia, we know that Stalin and Hitler and others who followed in their footsteps aren’t going to be the last.? Thanks for the tip.

2) Herman Cain, one of the few African American far right wing Republicans, helps sooth the Teabully soul allowing them to say, see,??I’m not a racist, I have a Black friend.” ?Cain has finally explained why he didn’t publicly fight back against charges of sexual harassment.? Three women came forward during Cain’s 2012 failed bid for the GOP Presidential nomination.

In an interview given to Real Clear Politics last week, Herman Cain denounced all of his accusers as liars.

Cain also went on to explain that not only is? the devil determined to destroy our culture, but the devil also had time to hurt his candidacy with the sexual harassment claim as the devil orchestrated the allegations.

Or is it more appropriate to say that, just like great character, Geraldine, created by the late Flip Wilson…

The devil made him do it?

3) The Liberal Conservative, Jonathan Lenhardt, wrote today about Senator Rick Santorum’s claim that?Satan controls film industry.

Like many on the far right, Senator Santorum mixes patriotism and religion into his politics, while at the same promoting himself and the products that are sold to the rabid base of followers who just can’t get enough.? But Santorum is wrong.? The Devil is not on the movie screens or in the theatre seats.? The Devil can more likely be found in the souls of the people who come to the movie theaters armed to teeth with guns and ammunition that no private citizen should have.? And Satan can also be found in the souls of people like Senator Santorum who help make certain that these massacres continue to happen.

4) So there is this guy, Bruce Hershenson, who posted a photo on Facebook of a sign outside the Orange Church of God.? Now I don’t know if there really is such a Church or where the Church actually is.? But the sign said:

Surfers, skateboarders, musicians, artists, vegetarians, occupiers, activists, addicts, and fornicators are all going to hell.? Repent now!

A broad brush painting so many folks just making choices on things to do while living their private lives, as worthy of eternal damnation. I can see putting the addicts and the fornicators on the list, but the vegetarians too?? Still, if the Orange Church of God is looking for some potential repenters, perhaps they might try stopping in at the next local? Republican Party meeting, or at a Teabully rally, or even a local meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.

5) This is an old one but a good one from our friend and failed Presidential candidate, Pat Robertson.? The New York Times reported back in 1992 on a fundraising letter sent out by Robertson.? The letter said the feminist agenda:

Is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.

Stunning how Pastor Robertson, who makes his living fleecing funds from his small and impressionable flock, can come up with ways to scare his sheep into parting with more of their hard earned money otherwise known as their Social Security Benefits.? But not really, as this is a person who was disappointed that he couldn’t pray a hurricane away and who ran for President because God told him to.

Perhaps had he not also been trying to pray the gay away he might have had better luck keeping the hurricane from coming ashore.

6) Leading GOP/Teabully crazy and soon to be out of elected office, Republican Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, of Minnesota’s 6th District, is well known for her entertaining and off the wall comments. Before she shows herself the door, I must add her to today’s list.

Congresswoman Bachmann is known for mixing her particular brand of Evangelical Christianity with far right economic policy with a healthy sprinkling of completely wrong American History and an inability to understanding the Constitution of the United States.? Think how she claimed that the Founding Fathers? worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.

Jason Pitzl-Waters, writing for The Wild Hunt.org, has said that Bachmann is the embodiment of what the Christian Broadcasting Network calls the “Teavangelical Movement,”?which further blurs the line between economic and religious conservatism.

It is this mixture that has Michelle Bachmann believing that the idea of separation of Church and State is a myth and a lie, something that the Founding Fathers never intended.? But then again, what do you expect from the lady who also believes those same men lived to be well over 100 years of age which they must have been when they finally put an end to slavery.

7) Frequent Fox News guest, Erik Rush, ?is the type of right wing commentator that the GOP/Teabully crowd loves as he makes them feel inclusive, as Mr. Rush is the child of a mixed race couple and he is the person who gave them the Reverend Jeremiah Wright story.? And Mr. Rush is hot on the trail of the exclusive details on President Obama’s plan to install a totalitarian Government on the United States, using the Government shutdown as a means to usurp complete power while herding dissidents onto cattle cars.? Oh, Mr. Rush says that the President also engineered the recent Navy Yard Shootings to prevent his impending arrest for treason. Rush claims that the Navy had discovered the President’s plan to set off a nuclear device in Washington, DC.

Somebody please get this guy some Xanax.

8) Conservative writer and activist, Brent Bozell, thinks that television is way too gay.? A 2011 Gallup poll had found that respondents at that time believed 25% of TV characters were gay. According to a study by the GLAAD, only 4.4% on characters in the 2012-13 TV season were LGBT.? And 42% of the prime time characters on the Fox Television Network were LGBT.? Bozell thinks that TV is way more gay checking in at that 42% figure.

Bozell can be found appearing on Fox News. ?It must be be that he is getting this crazy idea about the LGBT community taking over television and American culture because he is too busy tuning into Fox News, where facts aren’t allowed to get into the way of a good narrative.? Or, he is just referencing Fox entertainment programing which really is ahead of the curve.

9) The Reverend Bradlee Dean??is a homophobic and bigoted preacher who has been influential in helping get Congresswoman Michele Bachmann onto the crazy train in and out of Washington, DC.? Reverend Dean makes fellow Minnesotan, Democrat ?Keith Ellison, of the 5th District, one of his usual targets.

Despite previous support for many Islamic countries where gays are treated harshly, now that President Obama, accused by Dean as being secretly gay, is around,? Dean believes both The President and Congressman Ellison together are discriminating against heterosexuals while promoting Sharia law. ?Wow!

10) Finally, the Teavangelical favorites, Senator Ted Cruz and Republican Congressman, Steve King, Iowa’s 4th District, went hunting last week and America breathed a sigh of relief as no people got shot in the face. ?This highlights the bowing by politicians on both sides of the aisle to the NRA and to a false narrative that has been holding our elected officials at the Federal and State levels hostage for decades.? The idea that real men shoot stuff, is another right wing fantasy. ?The opposite is actually true.? Real men and women use their words to solve problems and to defend themselves, their families, and their country from the madness of the ever increasing gun violence that unfortunately is a uniquely American scourge.
