From the moment White men set foot on African shores, to the auctioning blocks in South Carolina and Rhode Island, up until this very moment?there has been an incessant war waged against Black male’s genitalia by the patriarchal dominated White society.??It is a war that has taken many shapes and forms?throughout history,?a global?war, thus systemic, its perpetrators?are not always necessarily White males.? Nevertheless, the root cause and motivation remains the same as does the end result–the castration of Black males.
During?slavery, post slavery and the Jim Crow era Black males were routinely castrated as a form of punishment.? It was a means of instilling the worse kind of fear in Black males.? In the 1800’s and 1900’s Black men?were hung from trees throughout the south, sometimes set afire and often times their genitalia severed and kept as souvenirs by White men.? But the 21st century castration of Black males?has taken on a new mode.? Such is the case of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 16-year-old Black male Darrin Manning.
According to the medical staff?of Children’s Hospital who operated on Manning, he may be permanently damaged as a result of a female officer grabbing his testicles during a stop and frisk procedure?that escalated into an altercation.? Manning and a group of?teenagers were headed to a basketball game when approached by police officers?for apparently looking “suspicious” due to their faces being covered?with scarves.? Scarves that were given to them by their principal Veronica Joyner. She said:
?Now I never knew covering your face to keep warm in zero?or below weather was a crime, but I guess to Philadelphia Police Officers, it was.?
Of course there is nothing criminal or suspicious about covering one’s face in rigid weather to keep warm, however in 2014 clearly walking while Black still is.? Especially if you are a group of young, vibrant and fertile Black males.? Why I can only imagine the threat the police officers must have?felt; the sight of all?that semen.? And all it takes is one drop.? One drop of Black genetic material to annihilate the White race.
Freud was?definitely on to something with?his coining of the?psychological concept?penis envy.? However it is the cause?as well as the subject?where he missed the mark.
