If you’ve ever been on the online dating market and were frustrated with your responses, you might be able to blame your race. In a study by the app, Are You Interested and another by OKCupid. The results were disappointing, to say the least, for those of us who might strive for a post-racial world.
The study found that white men like Asian woman. Asian men like Latina women. White men got more attention than anyone (except from black women). White men like everyone but white women. Black women like black men, but black men like everyone else. Black women, in general, are the least replied to group on dating sites, but they are the most likely to respond. White women are the second least popular female group and they are the most selective.
Latinos are in the middle and South Asian men are the least popular, followed by black men, and East Asians.
The most popular group? Middle Eastern women. Middle Eastern men are the most likely to respond.
South and East Asian women were the most selective of the studies.
Despite all that, users mostly keep within their own race, with the exception of Asian women, who like white men.
They only studied heterosexual interactions, so we can’t be sure if the patterns hold true with same-sex dating.
What’s the bottom line? If you’re looking for online dating success, perhaps you should date outside your race. You might be amazed at how much you have in common – beginning with tales of dating site rejection.
