The Stereotype Map Of Every U.S. State — According To British People

Liberal Americans love the Brits. We think they’re hella cool, especially their sense of humor. BuzzFeed U.K. asked its staff to share the stereotypes that they have of every state in the U.S. Sadly, I think we totally deserve this. They may know us better than we know ourselves. Y’all enjoy.

The North East. Stephen King made the list. Nice! I love the descriptions of Rhode Island. Also nice: “Wait is all this New York, too?”.

The South East. Dang, they think our Deep South is racist. Awwww, I wonder why. Remember, British folk, there are a lot of nice liberals hiding in the South. Poor North Carolina — “the better Carolina” — got lumped in as a racist state just by its proximity to the rest of the South.

The mid-section of the U.S. New Mexico has a reputation for meth. Wow. Who knew?

And, the West. My fave: “No, wait. Wrong Washington.” And Ron Burgundy made the list. Sigh.

Alaska and Hawaii. Dear Alaska, I’m sorry that your former half term governor seems to now define “Alaska.” Unfair to a beautiful state and some beautiful people.
