Real Voter Fraud, And It’s A Scott Walker Supporter

The “John Doe” investigation in Wisconsin?has uncovered?one of the most egregious cases of in-person voter fraud in recorded history. A?Wisconsin voter apparently cast at least?a dozen illegal votes over the course of five elections in 2011 and 2012. Robert Monroe, a health insurance executive, and a Scott Walker supporter,?has been charged with 13 felony counts?for fraudulently voting using his name, his son’s name, and his girlfriend’s son’s name to cast ballots.

He allegedly cast?five votes for Scott Walker?in the 2012 recall election. He?also is accused of?casting multiple ballots?in the extremely close?April 2011 Supreme Court case between David Prosser and Joanne Kloppenburg. That race was not decided until after a recount was conducted.

No wonder Republican voters accuse Democrats of voter fraud. While the instances of in-person voter fraud are exceedingly rare, it is perhaps unsurprising that a person who would cheat to get his candidate elected would also assume that other people cheat like he does. So while Scott Walker supporters have tried to allege that Democrats cheat to win, ?it is actually Republicans who have been trying to rig the outcome by illegally voting multiple times.

Being a wealthy health insurance executive, Mr. Monroe probably believes that he should be entitled to more votes than the regular folks who work from paycheck to paycheck. He apparently views himself as so important that he thinks he should be allowed four or five extra ballots for every election.

Now, Robert Monroe could face up to 45 years in prison. Each felony count carries a maximum penalty 3 1/2 years in prison and a 10,000 dollar fine. While it is unlikely that Monroe will serve the maximum sentence on each count, if he is convicted of even one felony, he will lose his right to vote. That only seems fair since he has cast enough votes for an entire lifetime already. However, if he is convicted of a felony, state officials may have to monitor his relatives closely to make sure Robert Monroe is not trying to vote using their names.
