Bill Clinton: Obama On ‘Pretty Firm Legal Ground’ On Immigration Exec. Action

The GOP is aflame after Pres. Obama’s announcement about executive action on immigration, but one guy who knows what he’s talking about says that the president is in the clear: former President Bill Clinton.

From?Rachel Huggins, a reporter for?The Hill.

?As far as I can tell every president in the modern era has issued some executive action on immigration, so I imagine he’ll be on pretty firm legal ground,? Clinton said.

From?The Hill:

Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush extended amnesty to family members excluded from the last overhaul of U.S. immigration policy in 1986, according to The Associated Press.

From MSNBC:

?Experts have identified a total of 39 times since 1956 that presidents have used their authority to grant relief to immigrants.?

In fact, every single president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has taken executive action on immigration.

As if this yummy little cake needs icing, there’s also this: two years ago, the Supreme Court disagreed?in an Arizona Papers Please case, ruling that the president has broad discretion over the implementation of deportation policies.

Pres. Clinton was attending a gala on Wednesday evening celebrating? The New Republic magazine’s centennial celebration and he added this:

The former president jokingly told the crowd that nobody cares what he has to say unless his wife, Hillary, might run for office.

GOP? This isn’t something you can win.
