Repulsive! Missouri Bar Busted Offering Michael Brown ‘Six Shots’ Special

A bar in St. Joseph, Missouri has enraged people by mocking the death of unarmed African American’teen Michael Brown, who was killed in Ferguson, Missouri.?Mug Shots bar?advertised the ?Michael Brown Special,? which consists of six?shots of Jose Cuervo Cinge for?$10.

Here is a photo of the sign, taken by an outraged patron:

Rodney Stapleton, a co-owner of the bar, says that he got the idea when he saw?another bar?advertise the special and thought he could use the teen’s murder to ?sell some shots.? As it turns out, the other bar — St. Louis’s The Lounge?–?did NOT advertise the special, but that didn’t stop Mr. Stapleton from running with the fabulous idea.

Stapleton?explained:

I took it off of Facebook. People were passing the sign around Facebook and it looked like it was getting a good response, so I just decided to use it here. That’s what bar owners do. If they find out something works in another bar, they try to use it at their bar. Apparently I shouldn’t have used it. I should have thought about it a little more before I made it a shot special.

Shortly after the photo began to appear online, the bar?began to be inundated with complaints and threats of boycott and they?posted a message on their Facebook page thanking everyone for the publicity.

The Facebook page is no longer available and we don’t know who took it down, but it seems that Mr. Stapleton now fancies himself a part of the “no justice, no peace” and “hands up, don’t shoot” movements. From News-Press Now:

Mr. Stapleton said he ?hope(s) people understand that we meant no harm.? He elaborated, saying that the bar’s slogan is ?Where sarcasm is always free,? and that ?out-of-line jokes? are a part of his bar’s atmosphere. Mr. Stapleton said he hopes the incident starts a conversation and brings people together.

?I’m hoping it actually helps out the community a little bit rather than it being a bad thing … I’m hoping it actually helps us and brings people together a little bit and they understand that everything that it said or done is not meant to cause any harm,? he said.

Stapleton maintains that he’s totally not a racist, however.

?It makes us all look like a bunch of idiots and a bunch of thugs,? he said.??This wasn’t me trying to say something.?It was just me doing a shot special and trying to sell some shots.?

Despite Mr. Stapleton’s obvious sincerity (come on, you guys can’t see how sincere he is????),?Revolution News?was able to actually cull some Facebook posts from Mug Shots co-owner Nate Stapleton, Rodney’s son, and also from the official Mug Shots Facebook page. These image seem to suggest that the pair aren’t on the side of justice at all.
