I am David Christopher and I am a US Army Veteran. I served as a Rifleman. I am a proud American and a very, very staunch liberal. No, I am not gloating here.? My point is I am sick and tired of the right claiming we are weak and un-Armerican. That could not be further from the truth.
I firmly believe it is liberal ideals and policies that strengthen our nation and make us a beacon of freedom, prosperity, and justice to the rest of the world.? However, voting Democrat is not enough. For the past few years, the Democratic Party has constantly been caving in to the Republican Party. ?So much so that the midterms were lost. The most intelligent thing Conservatives are doing is blaming their failures on us. Our progress has been stalling so much because of policies that favor Wall Street, Big Oil, the Defense Lobby, and the Christian Right. These policies are getting passed because of an ill-thought attempt to comprise.
Also the conservatives know how to fight. They have aggression on their side. If we want to save America from the brink of becoming a right-wing plutocracy,?we as liberals need to take off the gloves and fight harder than we ever did. What good is having facts on our side if we cannot present them in a way that grabs attention?
We need to put an end to the stereotype of the long-winded, freedom-hating, unpatriotic, out-of-touch liberal that right-wingers love to use against us. We need to light fire under the rear ends of those we vote in to keep them from caving into the demands of corporate lobbyists and their Republican counter parts.
We need to put together a larger stronger base by supporting the progressive minorities of the South and the midwest and reaching out to blue collar workers and college students alike. We need to reach out to America’s Veterans and Active Duty Personnel. How do we do we do those things? By using clear, to the point, no nonsense language on how a Progressive agenda benefits everyone.? Its not going to be easy but nothing worthwhile ever is.
I don’t know about you but I’m tired of losing elections, I’m tired of the people we vote in comprising, and I am tired of my patriotism being called into question. We also need to show our presence more and confront the Right wing base directly to counter everyone of their lies to their faces. I understand many of my fellow liberals want to to show civility in the face of aggression.
However, the right wingers seem to not understand civil rational arguments. I’m not saying we resort to violent rhetoric and trolling but I am saying we need to be just as aggressive as they are if not more. Let’s call their patriotism into question, lets call them out on their hypocrisy, lets disrupt them and drown them out, and do everything we can to murder those racist, sexist, homophobic, greedy? frauds in the elections. No more compromise, no more civility, and no more complacency. They may have won’the battle but they will lose the war. Lets get up off our butts and into the fight.
