Chick-fil-A Investigates Possible Security Breach

Chick-fil-A, the popular Atlanta-based fast food chain, has released a statement on its website regarding “limited suspicious payment card activity” that it is currently investigating with the help of IT firms and law enforcement. According to the chain, the information came to light December 19, 2014 via “payment industry contacts” about the suspicious activity at “a few of our restaurants.” The restaurant has assured customers that they will not be held responsible for the breach:

Customers will not be responsible for any fraudulent charges to their accounts ? any fraudulent charges will be the responsibility of either Chick-fil-A or the bank that issued the card. We will arrange for free identity protection services, including credit monitoring, to any impacted customer.

Chick-fil-A promises to notify customers of any suspicious activity on their accounts once it is confirmed. Customers can also call?855-398-6439 for more information.

This story is ongoing. If a security breach is confirmed, it will be the latest of several in the past year, to include Target, Home Depot, and Sony.
