Guess What, Christian Right? You’re Not So Different From Muslims After All

I find it strange when Christian Conservatives post anti-Islamic stuff on their timelines and pages because they follow pretty much the same religion. Christianity and Islam are?historically linked to each other. Rather, most of the Sharia Law is derived from Christian scriptures itself. Both are ‘people of the book’ with a slight difference.

Let’s have a look at the similarities between the two religions:

Both of them suggest women must be submissive to their husbands:

According to Christianity, women should be submissive to men. According to Islam, a woman’s ultimate goal is her man’s success. Both of them deny a woman’s individuality. Both of them are strict about their clause on women rights which says that women don’t have any rights. However, Islam is a little better with its wordings because it doesn’t mention that women should be submissive straight away.

Both of them justify marital rape:

According to Christianity, a man has every right over her wife’s body and a wife should never deprive her husband of his desires except in a few situations (e.g. when fasting or pregnant). Thus, according to Christianity, a woman is at fault if her husband rapes her because she was not supposed to resist. Although vice versa is true as well (wives have right over their husbands as well), but it’s less practical. Islamic law is pretty the same. Almost all Islamic countries consider marital rape legal and there is no punishment for a man who rapes his wife.

Both of them call pre-marital sex a sin:

Even?considering or thinking or speaking about pre-marital sex is a taboo for radical Christians. The Sharia law species punishments like flogging and execution for the same.

Both of them believe that a woman’s primary duty is to bear children:

Ever wonder why Christian right women often have a dozen or more kids? Christianity gives the explanation:

?Women will be saved through bearing children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.?

Thus, according to Christianity, it’s every woman’s duty to bear children and increase the already surplus population. Same with Islam. It specifies that it’s a woman’s duty to bear as many children as possible.

Both of them condemn abortion:

Christianity believes that life starts at conception and not at birth. Thus, abortion is murder. This is a well-known issue with radical Christians. Islam believes the same. However, unlike Christianity, it allows abortion for the first trimester. Both of them have debates over whether a rape victim should be allowed abortion or not. Pathetic!

Both of them say they were reformatory religions to protect women’s rights:

Lol! This is actually something that makes me laugh. One religion specifically asks women to be submissive, allows domestic violence and marital rape. The other one allows polygamy. And both of them claim to be pro-women.

Both of them think natural disasters are a result of not believing in god:

I wonder if radically religious Christians and Muslims ever attended primary school. As per their philosophy, there is no scientific reason behind natural disasters and the only reason they occur is that god was not happy enough.

The list goes longer than this but beyond our scope. The main point is that Islam derived most of its preaching from the Bible. So it’s funny when the Christian right tries to throw mud on the policies in the middle east.

Karan is a humanist and a serious Bernie Sanders supporter who is really really scared that if (god forbid) the Republican wins, it's impact on his part of the world would be a disaster. The 2016 polls might be a debate of bread and butter for Americans. For him, it's a question of life and death.
