Native Americans have suffered cultural victimization at the hands of not only the U.S government but also Hollywood.

Hollywood has had a long and shameful history of racism. Minorities have had to suffer in silence if they wanted to work in Hollywood. For years, Hollywood used white men to portray Native Americans in western films and television. Of course we all know that the disrespect of their culture goes back much further than Hollywood.

Recently several Native American actors decided to take a stand. They confronted the producers for the upcoming movie “Ridiculous Six” concerning the script. It’s clear that they would not tolerate and perpetuate the victimization of their culture any further. Here’s the story from the YouTube description.

“You have read the jokes in Adam Sandler’s upcoming Netflix movie The Ridiculous Six that caused Native American extras to walk off the set. Now, you can see a video of Sandler’s producers arguing with the group of Native Americans. ?Here’s the thing,? one producer appears to tell the actors in the cell phone footage. ?If you’re overly sensitive about it then you should leave.?

In the video, which was uploaded by Indian Country Today Media Network, one actor can be heard arguing with a male producer that the Native cast has ?a lot to lose? if the film’s Apache characters are portrayed negatively. ?We don’t need to sell out our people.”

Here’s the video.
