A 57th wedding anniversary is a big deal, no matter how you look at it. But if one half of the couple celebrating 57 years of marriage happens to be hospitalized, it’s even more special.
James ?Jim? Russell of Georgia said he wanted to make this year’s anniversary unforgettable for Elinor, the woman he gave his heart to over a half-century ago. Elinor has been in the hospital for the past month, and while the couple doesn’t usually make a fuss over anniversaries, Jim decided to go all out for his beloved Elinor.
What Mr. Russell did was dress up in a tux and bring the apple of his eye flowers and candy for their 57th. And as you might expect, Elinor said they had “a wonderful time.” And she added:
?Being in a hospital bed, you get bored, so when they came in, it made me smile like the younger days when we were dancing.”
Their granddaughter, Reid Russell, shared the photos of them on her Twitter account, and added this note:
so blessed to have these two
And we are all enriched by seeing two wonderful people so in love with one another after so many years. May they have many more years together
