Maine’s LePage Could Use An Anger Management Course

The nations most bombastic governor came unglued yet again in his latest speech on Friday, proving that an anger management course should be in his future planning.

I am referring to Maine’s governor Paul LePage, who yet again made national news for coming unglued after calling out Maine democrats and swore to veto every democrat-sponsored bill until a reduced income tax was proposed.

The words ‘bully’ and ‘dogmatic’ are two of many?that can be used?to describe Governor LePage.

If you are not familiar with LePage’s stance on the income tax we will go into some background information. For a good portion of his second term as Governor of Maine, LePage has made eliminating the income tax a highlight of his agenda and not improving Maine sluggish business climate.

During his latest speech at the Blaine House LePage can be heard uttering the words,

“I will veto every democrat sponsored bill that crosses my desk”

The Governor didn’t even balk at blaming Maine’s struggles on Democrats. LePage further claimed that Maine should be like Kansas, a state that dropped taxes to stimulate economic growth.

LePage called it

“The nations fastest growing economy”

Too bad LePage forgot to check his facts like he often does, but that’s just the Conservative in him. Never balking at the chance to distort facts.

Even one of LePage’s own, Amy Fried, called out the Governor on his fallacies.

In a recent article Fried showed that Kansas was not the fastest growing economies, in fact it was one of the most struggling ones growth wise.

Here’s the graph and explanation from fellow author Menzie Chinn.

Chinn writes:

“Three month growth in Kansas has flattened (-0.08%, annualized, in logs), and in fact the (preliminary) m/m annualized growth rate for Kansas is -2.4%. This is in sharp contrast to the other states in the graph, including Wisconsin which itself has lagged relative to the US and Minnesota, and lagged relative to what historical correlations up to 2010 would have indicated (and statistically significantly so).?

It’s a lot of mumbo jumbo to some but in laymens term it means that Paul LePage was dead wrong yet again.

We all know the kid that screams and yells when he doesn’t get his way or throws a fit when nobody will listen to him. Paul LePage is that kid, but he still hasn’t figured out why nobody will listen to him.?It’s because throwing your arms up in the air and blaming others while calling it “politics” won’t get you anywhere if you don’t know your facts.

As Steve Benen said?,

“Let’s not forget, by the way, that this isn’t LePage’s first demand for redistributing wealth from the bottom up. In 2011, the Republican cut the top marginal rate for the wealthiest earners, and Maine’s revenues still haven’t fully recovered.”

The full rant and Paul Lepage Unglued is available?here?if you are interested. It is pretty much more of the same though . . .

We still think he needs that anger management course . . .
