Nine-year-old?Kalel Santiago has already been through the kind of medical nightmare most of us can never imagine.
When he was only ten months old, Kalel was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. Following two years of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and an eventual victory over his cancer, this little boy was then diagnosed with severe, nonverbal autism.
Kalel’s parents tried numerous therapies for their son’s autism, including surf therapy which offered some moderate success. But it wasn’t until they tried hemp oil for the first time that Kalel began to show significant improvement.
After only two days of using cannabis oil, Kalel began to talk. As his father,?Abiel Gomez Santiago recalled:
“He surprised us in school by saying the vowels, A-E-I-O-U. It was the first time ever.?You can’t imagine the emotion we had, hearing Kalel’s voice for the first time. It was amazing. The teacher recorded him and sent it to my wife and me and we said well, the only different thing we have been doing is using the CBD (cannabidiol spray).”
And not long after speaking the first words of his young and miraculous life, this little boy also said something that warmed his mother’s heart beyond measure:
“He said, ?amo mi mama,? ?I love my mom.? ?I don’t know how to thank [the CBD oil makers].?
Kalel’s parents also report that their son appears to be truly alive and responsive for the first time in his life:
?He’s been connecting ? like he’s awakening to seeing the world.?He’s looking you in your eyes, he’s been trying to say different things and imitate what we are saying. He’s saying ?uncle,? ?aunt,? the names of my two kids. It’s something amazing that I cannot explain.?
Even Kalel’s doctor is stunned by how quickly he has seen progress since starting on the cannabis oil.?Dr. Giovanni Martinez remarked:
??Like his parents, I am also in shock.?I never got him to speak, and it was something that was haunting me. Language was something that was missing.?I’m not going to say let’s give this to every kid, because we have to monitor and study it. But I am very impressed with his language development. Imagine a mom who has been waiting almost 9 years to hear her child speak??To me, the story of Kalel is groundbreaking.?
For years we have heard how cannabis is bad for us, with some even claiming it to be a “gateway drug” that led to harder, more dangerous drugs such as cocaine and heroin. But clearly it also has incredible medicinal properties that we are only beginning to discover.
And for Kalel, the miracle of life has truly just begun.
