In a horrific incident involving incest, rape, sexual assault and attempted murder, 47-year-old Henry Allen Michael has been accused of raping his daughter and stabbing his son-in-law. He fled the scene in his son-in-law’s car.
Henry, who is a registered criminal, spent 20 years in prison from 1992 to 2012 for robbery and was on probation for a 2015 case where he was proven guilty of “assault with a dangerous weapon.” This means he spent almost all his years since he was 24 in either prison or shame. While he was raping his daughter and stabbing his son-in-law, he was violating probation, too.
It was 3:30 a.m., Saturday, at their home at the 100 block of W. Rundell Avenue, Pontiac, Michigan. The 25-year-old son-in-law arrived home to find his wife sleeping with her father, naked in bed. Feeling offended, he woke up his father-in-law and had a heated discussion. This is when Henry stabbed the younger man and fled in his car. He was arrested later.
The stab wound could have been fatal and had perforated the victim’s right lung, but the victim managed to wake up his wife, and upon being interrogated by the police, the wife said that she was drunk and didn’t know what happened that night. She claimed that she had reasons to believe that she was sexually assaulted. She was medically examined and eventually sent to live with a relative after the incident.
The interesting part of this news is that the accused, Henry, is being charged for attempted murder even though the stab seemed more like self-defense and less an intended assault. However, the police are awaiting it to be proved that it was a sexual assault before concluding it as rape. Isn’t it sufficient that a drunk woman who is unconscious, unable to consent, found to be completely naked in a sexual position with a person having a horrific criminal record, claiming to be a victim, should be considered as one? Even more, no news channel or online site has called it a rape as of yet.
