The All-Time Worst Workplace Pet Peeves

Admittedly, I don’t work in an office with other employees. I work from my office at home. But I have spent years of my life in offices, including the soul-sucking cubicle farm.

No matter what office we work in, there are some things that simply drive us crazy when others do them. Here are a few I’m sure you can relate to:

#1 The Dreaded “Reply All”

rep

The worst part about theĀ unending email thread is that there really is no escape. Although I do highly recommend the DELETE button.

#2 Loud music

We don’t all have the same taste in music. Please keep that in mind when you decide to share yours with those who don’t want to hear it.

#3 When the bathroom is a hot mess

Does your leave your bathroom at home in such a state of filth? On second thought, don’t answer that.

#4 Getting 10 emails when a brief face-to-face would suffice

Sure, I would love to schedule a meeting with you, but first let me finish this email that I’m sending in addition to the three dozen I sent earlier! Argh!!

#5 Passive Aggressive Emails

We are not impressed, OK? Not even a little. And no, you are not clever.

#6 Obnoxious personal phone conversations

I don’t want to hear about your cat, your dog, your child, your marriage, last night’s date, or what you plan to have for dinner. I. Just. Don’t!

#7 Co-workers clipping their nails at their desk

This puts in mind of a joke:

Person 1: Mind if I smoke?

Person 2: I don’t know; mind if I fart?

Do not clip your nails in public. Don’t. End of story.

#8 When the A/C isn’t on high enough

This is my personal #1 pet peeve. Hey, I can’t help that I’m hot-natured, but am I not making enough money for you to turn the freaking air on?!

#9 Loud Talkers

My hearing is fine. Or at least it used to be before I met you.

#10 Gum smacking

Have some respect for others. No one wants to hear that annoying smacking. Also, if you feel a need to chew gum all the time, perhaps you should consider having your teeth pulled. Need some help with that?
