OMG! Does presidential candidate, Marco Rubio, even know a woman? I’m beginning to think he does not, because his attitude about women’s reproductive rights is way off the cliff, clinging to air, and splat on the ground. He says Planned Parenthood not only sells baby parts but it is a rah-rah section for getting pregnant just to abort and sell baby parts!
Rubio is so totally ignorant about what Planned Parenthood actually does, I wonder how on earth he could ever grasp the complexities of running this country. For the record, this health organization does not sell baby parts.
I joined a 15-year-old young woman in the waiting room of Planned Parenthood for emotional support as she waited for her abortion. Her father forced her to have one, because he hated her boyfriend. The air throughout the room was heavy with sadness, because abortion involves grief. How dare Republicans make money off of that grief!
Planned Parenthood asks for funding for mammograms, pap smears, breast exams, birth control, HIV testing, pregnancy testing, STD testing and treatment, and vaccines. It medically treats men and women, especially low-income people.
Not only that, the organization offers patients information on adoption as an alternative to abortion, family planning, morning-after pill (emergency contraception), and let me say it again: birth control. How is it Republicans want to close down Planned Parenthood and access to birth control, which by definition prevents abortions? Wouldn’t the GOP have to outlaw male masturbation, too, with that logic? After all, that is a lot of potential babies down the drain.
No federal money funds abortions. Should a woman choose to donate fetal tissue for the purpose of furthering medical advances, Planned Parenthood is reimbursed for handling and transportation expenses from $30 to $100. The woman doesn’t see a cent of that money – only the knowledge that she has been able to contribute to the public good, much like organ donors.
Republican presidential candidates are relying heavily upon a sham baby-parts harvesting propaganda video for their “facts.” They know this video is bunk, but they clearly do not care about truth. Marco Rubio’s quotes make me nauseous:
“I just think you’ve created an industry now — a situation where very much, you’ve created an incentive for people not just to look forward to having more abortions, but being able to sell that fetal tissue — these centers — for purposes of making a profit off it, as you’ve seen in some of these Planned Parenthood affiliates.”
Abortions are only 3 percent of what Planned Parenthood provides. In very rare cases, such as when the mother’s life is in jeopardy, Medicaid may contribute.
I used to think that Rubio was just lying and grief mongering. Now, I’m beginning to question whether or not he is all that smart.
