Republican front-runner Donald Trump said his rival Sen. Ted Cruz is “just saying lie after lie” about his record. Trump says the Texas senator repeatedly misrepresents the Republican front-runner’s views.
“He’s such a mess.” said Trump on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Trump also claims that Cruz is nervous and that’s the reason he is such a mess and a liar. This is not the first time Trump has bashed Cruz on national television. In a recent interview on Jan. 25, Trump calls Cruz a “nasty person” and claims Cruz cannot get along with anybody.
Cruz handles the confrontation in a mature way, claiming to not engage Trump and his daily insults.
“My approach to Donald is the same before — that I will not engage in insults. I will not engage in personal attacks. Donald has changed how he has approached me in that now he is insulting me every day and he can do that. That is his prerogative.”
Tuesday, Trump took a jab at Cruz’s new ad, which includes an old video of Trump saying he supports abortion rights. Trump says that is another example of Cruz misrepresenting his positions. The ad also shows Trump calling Iowans “stupid” at a rally. Trump stated on Good Morning America that he was referring to just Iowans and Americans who did not support him in the presidential race.
In addition to calling Cruz a liar, Trump also claims that Cruz should not even be eligible to take part in the race, since he was born in Canada, and to be the President of the United States, you must be a natural-born citizen. Fortunately for Cruz, his mother was a natural-born citizen of the U.S. and his father Cuban-born, which means he was born with dual-citizenship. Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship in order to be eligible.
