Some Christian Men Still Trying To Make Their Wives Submit….In 2016!

Women beware! A Christian blog post from 2013 has gone viral around the world. It’s called “How To Make Your Wife Submit To Your Authority – 6 tips” by Caleb Suko for the Suko Family blog. Yes, this man seems to have taken a time machine back to the 1950s.

He uses a Biblical quote to justify getting your wife to be submissive:

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Eph 5:22

What does he mean by submission? They believe that women should allow men to take the full authority in their marriages.

They post starts out with some a harmless “tip.” The first one, “make your wife your friend” is pretty much common sense. Relationships do well when both parties can get along.

Next, it starts to go downhill. The next one says that the man should own up to his own mistakes AND his wife. But, he also tells men to be sneaky about it. He tells husbands to not say anything after fixing her mistakes.

Ladies, we are big girls. A grown ass woman should be able to own up to her own mistakes. Some of the comments on the post talk about making their wives submissive by becoming more submissive to God. One of them said he was leading by “God’s direction.”

No, you’re not. You are using your “God” and Bible to be sexist.

This concept of making your wife submit can have some dark consequences. In many cases, the men use their “authority” to abuse their wives: sexually, emotionally, verbally.

For example, this story follows a woman in Budapest who tearfully explained that her husband was demanding complete submission. This included cleaning the house to his exact standards, and he repeatedly forced her to engage in sexual acts that she was uncomfortable with. You know what that’s called…rape!

A marriage should be an equal partnership, not a dictatorship.
