Need RNC Accommodations? Jeffrey Dahmer’s Childhood Home Is Available!

Are you traveling to Cleveland, Ohio for the Republican National Convention? Do you want a place to stay that isn’t a hotel, but still close to the action? Well don’t worry, for a mere $10,000 you can stay at the childhood home of infamous serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer! Talk about some serious accommodations.

Yes, it’s real. No, it’s not a joke. The house is one of many that Ohio realty company Howard Hanna has listed as available for rent. The house, located at 4480 West Bath Road in Akron, is only a 30-minute drive to Quicken Loans Arena where the convention will take place from July 18 to July 21.

The house is the location of Dahmer’s first recorded murder of Steven M. Hicks in 1978. After leaving Ohio he murdered 16 more people. He was eventually arrested in 1991 in Wisconsin, and murdered in prison in 1994.

Chris Butler is the house’s current owner, and has made an effort to renovate and update the house in hopes of changing its image. Although the realty company originally appeared to indicate that the rental property was indeed once Dahmer’s home, the current listing makes no mention of him or the murder that occurred there.

Butler would not indicate what his politics are, but when interviewed said that he was hoping to “suck some Republican gelt from these people.” He also said that he isn’t confident that anyone would actually book the house, and that the decision to list it for rent was made on a whim.

So if you need accommodations during the Republican National Convention, or know someone who does, as of now the house is still available. So consider this lovely three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath house, with mid-modern architecture and a very disturbing history, for a mere $10,000. If nothing else, it would certainly make for an interesting, albeit macabre, story to tell your friends.
