Alabama Brewery Introduces New Beer Making Fun Of Governor Bentley (VIDEO)

The Salty Nut brewery here in my hometown of Huntsville, Alabama has released a new peach flavored beer to pay homage to our “unimpeachable” governor. Governor Robert Bentley has had an affair with one of his advisors. Even after the scandal, he is still refusing to resign. They are still trying to impeach him. Bentley says that the effort to remove him from office is “political grandstanding.”

So, the Salty Nut is going to release their “Unimpeachable Pale Ale,” a peach flavored beer. We recently got an ordinance, called the “growler law,” passed, which allows breweries to sell up to 288 ounces of beer per day for off-premise consumption. Before you could only go to the brewery and taste it, now our local breweries will be able to sell their fine beers. It also abolishes the law that breweries can only open in historic districts or struggling neighborhoods.

The owners of Salty Nut don’t think it will change their business dramatically, but it will add some convenience for their customers.

Co-owner Jay Kissel says:

“The name of our brewery is Salty Nut Brewery — clearly we don’t take ourselves too seriously. But we are serious about making good beer.”

The Salty Nut is not the only brewery that we have here. Straight to Ale has some different, delicious ones. I had a watermelon beer there, which was surprisingly good. I also had one that had jalapenos in it; it’s very odd to drink beer that is spicy.

As of 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville. The first one was the now defunct Olde Towne Brewery. They opened in 2004, and they were the first one we had here since Prohibition. We may be “the Rocket City,” but we have some fun brewery taprooms to visit. Some of these breweries hold events with live music as well.

Here is a compilation of Governor Bentley’s awkward moments:
