Police Find Meth Lab in McCain Employee’s House

Republican Senator John McCain really knows how to pick them, eh? We all remember the Sarah Palin fiasco. Heck, they even made an HBO movie about the whole thing starring Julianne Moore and Ed Harris. Well, this time the selection wasn’t anyone as important as a vice presidential nominee, but embarrassing nonetheless.

Emily Pitha, an independent political consultant working for McCain’s re-election campaign, was arrested Tuesday at her Arizona home. Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant looking for drugs after they caught her boyfriend signing for a package of drugs sent through the mail. Smooth.

Inside the couple’s home the police found an entire working meth lab, unnamed quantities of LSD, cocaine, heroin, around $7,000 in cash, and even counterfeit bills. But wait, there’s more!

“Also in the backyard were the beginning stages of a building they were building with a fake wall that would possibly to be used for growing illegal marijuana.”

Your one stop drug shop!

A sad fact about this case is that there were two children living in the house. According to a detective working the case, both had access to the dangerous chemicals, the meth lab, and even the drugs themselves. Because of this, Pitha and her boyfriend will face child endangerment charges in addition to the long list of felony drug charges.

When asked for a statement regarding Pitha’s arrest, McCain’s campaign manager responded:

“The campaign immediately terminated any relationship with Ms. Pitha upon learning of her alleged involvement in the operation.”

Now, we know it is not McCain’s fault that Emily Pitha is a drug producing, child endangering forger. But couldn’t someone at his office do a more thorough background check? Anyone? At least this time, Pitha was caught and will spend time in jail for her crimes.

Meanwhile, we’re all still stuck with Sarah Palin. Thanks, John.
