CREEPY: Fundie Dad Tells Daughter She Must Be A Nun And Never Have A Boyfriend (VIDEO)

This Christian dad is giving me the creeps. We all expect dads to say things like “my daughter won’t date until she’s 30.” But this dad takes it too far.

His four-year-old daughter, Grace, probably doesn’t know anything about having a boyfriend, but she tells her dad that she wants one. The dad then says he will break the boy’s legs. Then he started saying his daughter is going to be a nun and “work for Jesus.”

It started with dad telling the daughter to stop waving at boys because “they’re smelly.” This led to Grace saying she wants a boyfriend, and this is when dad started recording. He threatens to break her future boyfriend’s legs and keep his father in a cupboard.

Many people are laughing at this video, but I find it unfunny. Is this what some Christians think of their daughters? This shows the damage that can be inflicted on girls that grow up in extremely conservative households.

The views of extreme fundamentalists are often sexist, and women that grow up this way often end up ashamed of themselves and their bodies.

There is a story of a girl who was raised in a Christian household. She married a boy from her church, and this is what her pastors said when her new husband started abusing her:

“They would say to me, ‘What did you do to cause him to be so angry? Were you not submitting to his will? You need to pray more. Help him be the man that God designed him to be. How can he lead the house if you’re not being the submissive wife? That must be why he hits you.’

These fundies say that women are supposed to be submissive. Unfortunately, these sexist views are still around. There is even a Facebook group of men trying to get their wives to be more submissive.

To this dad’s credit, he seems to be just responding to his (female) child’s assertive personality. I just hope he really is joking.
