Watch V.P. Biden Rip Trump Over Taco Tweet

Add Joe Biden to the growing list of elected officials who are officially unimpressed with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

Biden voiced his concerns in a recent interview with DC’s Fox 5. Like many others, the current Vice-President found Trump’s recent “taco bowl” tweet to be beneath a candidate who’s striving for the highest office in the land. Biden said:

“He’s a smarter guy than this. I hope he reaches the point where he figures out that it’s not a game show and he talk in earnest about where he would take the country. Because that is the kind of debate the public deserves.”

Being a career politician who has a reputation for making his unfiltered thoughts public, Joe Biden knows a thing or two about shooting from the hip. It was, after all, a concern of many when Obama selected him as his running mate in 2008 that the fiery Senator from Delaware could cause more damage than good.

In the end, Biden has been a pillar of stability inside the administration and one of Obama’s most loyal advisers.

Biden’s most recent comments come on the heels of pointed remarks from Obama, who recently admonished members of the press to fully vette all presidential nominees.  The President reminded the DC press corps that the race for the White House is “not a reality show” and needs to be taken seriously by all involved.

In a separate interview with CBS Pittsburgh, Biden cautioned his fellow Democrats from taking Trump’s candidacy too lightly by saying:

“He has beaten the odds. He’s surprised everybody. I think we all make a mistake when we don’t take him seriously.”

Whichever candidate emerges for the Democrats, it would be wise to heed Biden’s advice. Even as Trump seems to daily make a buffoon out of himself, he continues to strike a chord with a growing demographic of American voters.

Even if his credentials and capabilities haven’t been well vetted, the loyalty of his supporters has been proven.
