Many of the secrets of the Skull and Bones may not remain to be secrets anymore come July this year. The National Archives will publicly release 1,650 pages of Skull and Bones Society-related records from the George W. Bush era.

The FOIA request was made by book author Robert Gaylon Ross Sr. He has written several books about secret societies.

The White House records are currently stored at the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas, Texas. The National Archives is mandated to oversee the public release of the records after it received a request invoking the Freedom of Information Act. The request was for specific documents related to the presidency of George W. Bush.

According to the National Archives, the request was specifically seeking the public release of 8,072 pages of official documents, 3,159 assets such as cards and letters, and one video clip.

Among these are the 1,650 pages of documents relating to one of the most secretive and elite organizations in which Both Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. are former members.

Thorough examination of the requested documents was made by the National Archives and Records Administration and by the former president himself. It was necessary to determine if some of the documents can be released without compromising national security.

Access to sensitive information is restricted under the 44 U.S. Code § 2204 of the Freedom of Information Act. Some of the documents that are restricted include national security secrets, trade secrets, and confidential presidential communications.

Hence, the documents that will be released were trimmed down to 3,404 pages of official records, 1,503 assets and one video clip. Additional 582 pages of partial documents and 182 assets are also scheduled to be publicly released.

Many of the potentially damaging documents relating to the Skull and Bones are likely to be isolated. The society is closely connected to the C.I.A., making some of the documents sensitive.

Conspiracy theorists are likely to be frustrated once the truncated and “sterilized” versions of the requested documents are released to the public.
