Donald Trump Plus His Angry Supporters Equal Christian Theocracy (VIDEO)

Ted Cruz was the proposed candidate who was divinely chosen to bring God back to America, but Cruz failed. However, this does not stop Donald Trump and his angry voters from furthering an extremist, Christian, right-wing agenda that slowly disintegrates our democracy.

One can say a lot about Trump – he may or may not be an actual racist and ardent misogynist. However, Trump aligns himself with these ugly aspects of America’s underbelly, with a political party that already fosters intolerance. Trump has also become a beacon for Christian extremists like Jerry Falwell Jr., who has publicly endorsed Trump.

Who Is Jerry Falwell Jr. ?

Jerry Falwell Jr. is the son of Jerry Falwell, an American evangelical Southern Baptist pastor. In the 1970s, Jerry Falwell and his ilk not only inspired Christians to be more politically engaged, but also to organize within the Republican Party.

Jerry Falwell and his offspring are from a distorted strain of Christianity. His type of Christian supremacy encapsulates the belief that Christianity is the superior religion, the preferred religion, and the only religion that America’s political and social institutions should derive any sort of governance from. This completely ignores one of the fundamental clauses of the First Amendment – separation of church and state. First coined by Thomas Jefferson, this clause notes that the United States Congress and its political system will not go out of its way to make laws that endorse any particular religion.

The Pervasiveness of “Real Christians”

From a fundamentalist standpoint, “real Christians” are those who follow biblical law in a literal interpretation, especially from the Old Testament. We are not yet bearing witness to the end results of this Christian campaign, but we already can observe its ramifications.

Christian fundamentalism has overtaken conversations around abortion, has killed those who may love differently, and is now in a fury because transsexual people may want to use a bathroom that they feel safe and comfortable using. Many of America’s problematic –isms stem from Christian fundamentalism.

Is Democracy In Danger?

Trump is erratic, unpredictable, and has been marked as the bearer of America’s fascism. He is also being used as a vehicle to push forward supremacist ideals into law. Unlike Muslim fundamentalists who use overt efforts to underline their agenda, Christian fundamentalists are much more subtle, yet still as adamant in replacing our democracy with a theocracy.

Do you think our democracy is in danger of transforming to a theocracy?
