WATCH: Bill Maher Rants That Millennials Want ‘A Little Too Much Socialism’

Bill Maher went on another rant about those damned Millennials – apparently young Americans do not understand socialism, and are too quick to accept it. Maher launches into a tirade, stating that “Millennials are too young to remember the days” of the Soviet Union and its breed of socialism. He further perpetuates the idea that Millennials want “a little too much of socialism.”

Young Americans simply are lazy, entitled, and want everything to be free.

Too Quick To Associate Millennials With Communism

The mainstream media have popularized the technique of ranting against the Millennial generation, especially when talking about Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) and his supporters. However, people don’t seem to understand that for young Americans, socialism isn’t such a bad word.

For older Americans, socialism is a poisonous word that represents the Cold War, Joseph Stalin, and inevitable nuclear threats.

It’s the image of a tyrannical government that governs private industry with an iron fist, with hostile taxes that will cripple entrepreneurs and whole industries. However, Millennials – and to a larger extent, many Bernie supporters – have removed the harmful stereotypes of what it means to be a socialist.

Born in 1956, Bill Maher represents a demographic that was born less than a decade after the start of the Cold War, so it makes sense that he would be triggered into a misleading rant as to what Millennials actually want.

Millennials don’t want socialism or communism – they want democratic socialism, a strain of socialism that focuses on capitalism with a bit of a brain and heart.

Democratic socialism isn’t even unique to Millennials. A poll by the American Action Network shows that about 60 percent of Democrats believe that socialism can have a positive impact on society. Not to mention that we already have aspects of socialism live, right now.
