Mother Denied Protective Order Before She And Her 3 Children Were Murdered

Phoukeo Dej-Oudom made attempts to ensure safety for herself and her three children just three weeks before they became subject of a quadruple murder suicide. Phoukeo Dej-Oudom and her children were murdered on June 29. Her application for a protective order was denied by a Las Vegas judge on June 8.

Jason Hagan Dej-Oudom was her husband, the father of their children, and their murderer. His children were just 9, 14, and 15 years old.

As reported by the AP,

“A driver spotted Phoukeo Dej-Oudom waving her hands and screaming for help in the street near her home and picked her up Wednesday night. Jason Hagan Dej-Odoum chased them to a CVS drug store two blocks away, where he dragged his wife into his car at gunpoint. As he drove off, his wife partially hung out the window and eventually escaped and started running. Witnesses saw Jason Hagan Dej-Odoum chasing her in his car while she fled toward a Walgreens about a half mile away.”

Phoukeo Dej-Oudom was shot outside of the Walgreens around 7:30 p.m. After murdering his wife, Jason Hagan Del-Oudom fled to the family’s apartment.

Police first responded to the family’s apartment after a relative reported that Jason Hagan Dej-Oudom had contacted them and reported being suicidal.

The children and Jason Hagan Dej-Oudom were found dead in their apartment by the SWAT team shortly after 8 p.m. At this time, it is still unknown in which order the murders occurred.

Phoukeo Dej-Oudom had filed for divorce on May 25 and had filed a motion for primary custody.

As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal,

“In court paperwork she checked boxes that indicated the case involved domestic violence and Child Protective Services… A Clark County spokesman could not confirm whether Child Protective Services had involvement with the Dej-Oudom family.”

Phoukeo Dej-Oudom wrote,

“The father is a flight risk, and the children need to be in my care for education purposes, and stability… Father can not hold a job.”

Phoukeo Dej-Oudom, who at the time was staying with a relative, said in court,

“He mentioned that he will take children whenever he pleases. In conversation, he said me not returning home is not an option, and will not accept it. Also said, ‘if anything were to happen to children, hopes I can live with that.’”

Jason Hagan Dej-Oudom had previously been arrested for domestic violence in 2005.

Judge William Potter, who denied the protective order has been unavailable for comment.
