WATCH: Jennifer Aniston Comes Clean About ‘Baby Bump Rumors’

I’ve always loved Jennifer Aniston, but I love her more now. She is sick of being asked if she is pregnant or if she is going to have a child. She came clean and addressed the topic beautifully in a blog post on the Huffington Post called, “For The Record.”

In it, Aniston says:

“For the record, I am not pregnant. What I am is fed up. I’m fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of ‘journalism,’ the ‘First Amendment’ and ‘celebrity news.'”

We see it constantly. Celebrity news shows are always talking about whether or not a woman is pregnant. They freak out when they spot a so-called “baby bump.” They objectify women, and they act like every woman should have a child.

Celebrity news is full of body shaming towards female celebrities. They perpetuate the idea that a woman must be stick-thin to be pretty.

Aniston has a beautiful view on these topics:

“Here’s where I come out on this topic: we are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child. We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies. That decision is ours and ours alone. Let’s make that decision for ourselves and for the young women in this world who look to us as examples. Let’s make that decision consciously, outside of the tabloid noise. We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves.'”

It’s a double standard, really. Childfree women get very condescending comments from people when answering questions about whether or not they’re going to have a child. “You’ll change your mind!” “It’s worth it.” “You’re selfish.”

One Christian blogger actually had the nerve to say that women who don’t have children are contributing to the “deterioration of society.” There are plenty of reasons not to have children.

Watch this video for Jennifer’s perspective on those reasons:
