WATCH: Pope Francis Warns Against Using ‘Physical And Social Walls’ To Fight Fears

Just days before America elects its 45th President, the Pope has a message for his followers, and for those within earshot of his voice: people need to be cognizant of others exploiting their fears and eventually becoming “walled up.”

Many people took his remarks as an indirect criticism of the Republican platform, which has adopted a tyrannical, bigoted, and fearful foundation.

It is also safe to say that it might’ve even been a type of indirect blame towards Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, who has done his share of galvanizing bigotry.

Listen to What the Pope Has To Say

Pope Francis spoke at the Vatican Saturday evening before commemorating the Third World Meeting of Popular Movements, an organized effort to help the world’s poor. Other than his criticism, Pope Francis also talked about:

The terrorism of an economy focused only on making money.”

In prior speeches, he condemned those that take advantage of people’s fears, with this speech expanding upon it when he said that “social walls” will only give false security.

Pope Francis and His Word on Refugees

At a time when many Christians have abandoned core values for fear and hatred, Pope Francis gave a straightforward view of the Syrian refugee crisis:

“No one should be forced to flee their homeland.”

It seems that in the maelstrom of this political election, many people forget that Syrian refugees are just that – refugees that have been displaced due to political and socioeconomic strife.

A representative for the Vatican mentioned that his remarks were not an indirect attack on Trump or telling anyone how to vote. But what do you think? Do you think this was a message for Trump and his supporters?
