A shattered dream dimly describes the insurmountable loss for presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. Conceding to any election is difficult but losing to Donald Trump was completely unfathomable. What a shattered dream, not just for Clinton but also her aides, who were left heartbroken.
Clinton gave an emotional speech after her loss, one that ripped through America with onlookers emphatically sharing her devastation.
A Nightmare
Her aides, those who put the pedal to the metal in hopes that their efforts would pay off, were heartbroken.
Recapping what went wrong is the conventional due diligence post-election loss process and Clinton’s aides defined what they considered some attributing factors. In their best efforts, they summed up that the main culprits were, of course, the FBI’s move to scare voters with a newfound email investigation just days before the election.
Although the polls were indicative of a tightening race before the announcement, the new allegations were a severe blow which caused on-the-fence Republican voters to sway back to being loyal to their party.
Clinton also recently shared that she blames James Comey and the FBI for a frivolous agenda in announcing a new investigation which turned out to be nothing.
Aides also suggested that other contributing factors were the increase in premiums for health insurance.
Most importantly, aides pointed out that America’s white working class voter just wasn’t ready for a female president.
Other fingers pointed to media outlets’ portrayal of Clinton especially as it related to the email scandal. Aides accused media outlets of slanting the coverage against Clinton, including John Podesta, who said:
“The media always covered her as the person who would be president and therefore tried to eviscerate her before the election, but covered Trump who was someone who was entertaining and sort of gave him a pass. We need to reflect and analyze that and put our voices forward.“
An Inward Look
Although the aides had many external reasons why the campaign failed, some voters feel their efforts in capturing the votes of the millennial generation and the working class was an internal reason for the loss. Whatever the reasons for failure, Clinton’s aides packed their desks to move on to their next projects with broken hearts.
