This Famous Designer Just Publicly REFUSED To Dress Melania (TWEETS)

French Designer, Sophie Theallet, who designed some of Michelle Obamas most poignant outfits, wrote an open letter vowing never to dress President-elect Donald Trump’s wife, Melania.

Theallet took to Twitter Thursday evening to post her letter publicly even though she understands taking a side on politics can be dangerous for someone in the fashion industry.

Theallet describes her understanding of being an immigrant herself, having her business now located in New York City. However, she goes on to discuss moral and ethical implications of supporting xenophobic, racist, and sexist beliefs. Theallet wrote:

“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom, and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady. The rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by.”

Michelle Obama has been revered in the fashion world and has spent eight years adorning some of the most beautiful creations by some of the most celebrated designers in the country. The President-elect’s wife, Melania Trump has not come forward to discuss her plan for fashion after purchasing her own clothing for the campaign trail.

Theallet ended her letter by calling out all designers to take a stand in this crucial period in history. With everyone from your neighbor to the President making a showing of support for the community, those with power in the media should follow suit and stand up for what they believe.

Meanwhile, while Theallet stands up for the rights of millions, Amanda Carpenter, Ted Cruz’s alleged lover, compared refusing to service to a protected group of people to refusing service to Melania Trump. Her ignorance shows exactly why people like Theallet are making the right choice.

Let’s hope more and more famous faces begin to show the world they won’t put up with Trump’s disgusting rhetoric, nor support anyone who is involved with it.
