Trump Fools Supporters Again On Healthcare – Partners With Big Pharma (VIDEOS)

President-elect Donald Trump has said plenty about health insurance and Obamacare during his campaign this year. In July, he called Obamacare “disastrous,” measuring the demand of his supporters to repeal Obamacare by how loud they clapped during one of his conventions.

Throughout the summer of 2016, he probed at the current healthcare system, calling to entirely repeal Obamacare, noting that it has failed American veterans. Leading up to him winning the election, his disdain for Obamacare was steadfast, unwavering, and adamant. Now that he’s officially the president-elect, he seemed to have changed his tune.

Trump Fooled His Supporters?

Ever since he officially got elected president, Trump seems to have backtracked on many of the promises he made to his supporters. He has mentioned that he is self-funded, so he is not beholden to special interest groups and lobbyists.

After he got elected, many lobbyists have had a direct influence on his transition team.

Trump has also backtracked on his wishes to repeal Obamacare just two days after being elected president via the Electoral College. He has even stated that he liked features of Obamacare “very much,” wishing to leave aspects of the bill “out of respect” for President Barack Obama.

Donald Trump Is Partnering With The Pharmaceutical Industry

Trump doesn’t seem like he wants to “drain the swamp.” He partnered with Big Pharma to ensure that costs for products aren’t controlled, and made more accessible to the end consumer.

What his healthcare plan does mention is the restriction of abortion, changing parts of Medicaid and Medicare, and faster approval of pharmaceutical drugs.

Many of Trump’s advisers and constituents have close ties to Big Pharma. His advisers include former executives of Pfizer, Celgene, including firms with relationships with 11 of the world’s largest drug makers.

The influence of Big Pharma is far reaching, with it even tainting Vice President-elect Mike Pence. Major drug companies have publicly supported Pence, like Eli Lilly and Company, a pharmaceutical giant with a base in Pence’s home state of Indiana.

Trump constantly blasted America’s healthcare system, high costs of drugs, and how Americans cannot afford them. Now he’s very much mute on the issue. It’s the art of the bait and switch, a traditional skill of would-be presidents.

What do you think about Trump’s closeness to Big Pharma? Do you think Big Pharma will influence Trump?
