Jim Bakker: Counties Who Voted For Hillary Will Pay For Opposing ‘The Will Of God’ (VIDEO)

It’s been amply established that Jim Bakker is even worse than he was during his salad days at PTL. After all, this is a guy who thinks there are radical Muslims embedded in our churches, thinks Christians today have it as bad as Nazi-era Jews, and claims Planned Parenthood is a front for devil worship. Well, even by those standards, Bakker really went off the deep end late last week, when he claimed that any county that voted for Hillary Clinton will face the wrath of God.

On Friday’s edition of “The Jim Bakker Show,” Bakker and his friends discussed the aftermath of the election. People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch got a clip.

Bakker, his wife Lori, and co-host Zach Drew started out well by condemning the few instances of violence that have broken out during the post-election protests. Sadly, they couldn’t leave it at that. While a map of the county-by-county election results was on the screen, Bakker went full fire and brimstone.

“If you live in the blue—any spot that’s blue—I would say, ‘Oh God, help me. Oh God forgive me.’ Because those are the ones who came against the will of God in this election.”

Bakker claimed to have gotten a message from God that there were going to be massive earthquakes in California. True to form, California broke heavily for Hillary, who defeated Donald Trump 62-33. He specifically predicted there would be a massive earthquake in Los Angeles–one so destructive that “the big buildings will be laying on their sides” and “all of LA is going to collapse.” Los Angeles County voted for Hillary by a punishing 71-23 margin, and last went Republican in a presidential election in 1984.

Drew noted that inland California was almost solid red. As most of us know, inland California is strongly Republican, but is almost always swamped by the overwhelming Democratic trend on the coast–particularly the Bay Area and Los Angeles. One of Bakker’s producers, California native Sasha Volz, told Drew that nearly all of the fault lines and “prophetic words” happen to plant themselves on the coast. He warned that coastal Californians are going to face judgment because “they voted for a platform” that runs counter to the Bible–one that supports abortion and a two-state solution in Israel.

Okay, Jim. I’ll play. I live in one of those blue counties. My home in Charlotte and surrounding Mecklenburg County went resoundingly for Hillary, 63-33. So you mean to tell me that because my hometown, and others across the country who voted for Hillary, could face the wrath of God for rejecting a man who finds it acceptable to plaster a private cell phone on social media, mock the disabled, degrade women, and blow anti-Semitic dog whistles? Oh, that’s right–because that same man made the right clucking noises on abortion and marriage equality, nothing else matters.

And do you mean to tell most of the nation’s voters that the proverbial lightning bolt is coming down on them? In case you don’t know, it was because of those blue counties that Hillary is poised to win the popular vote by as much as 2.5 million votes. Then again, it’s not the first time Bakker has spat in innocent people’s faces. Remember, he was sentenced to 45 years in prison for rooking his followers into buying “lifetime memberships” in his PTL club when only one hotel was ever built. He would still be in prison today if the sentencing judge hadn’t gotten diarrhea of the mouth.

So now we know that Bakker has joined the rest of the religious right in making social issues a golden calf. News flash, Jim–when Trump is forced out of office sometime in 2017 or 2018, we will make sure that you and other so-called preachers who enabled him go down with him.

Darrell is a 30-something graduate of the University of North Carolina who considers himself a journalist of the old school. An attempt to turn him into a member of the religious right in college only succeeded in turning him into the religious right's worst nightmare--a charismatic Christian who is an unapologetic liberal. His desire to stand up for those who have been scared into silence only increased when he survived an abusive three-year marriage. You may know him on Daily Kos as Christian Dem in NC.
