WATCH: Netflix Releases ‘Barry’ Trailer – We’re Gonna Miss Him When He’s Gone

Netflix made a biopic movie about President Barack Obama. Those of you who have Netflix will be able to watch it on December 16. Since Donald Trump is going to be president in less than two months, we seem to be getting nostalgic about President Obama.

The movie, Barry, focuses on his time at Columbia University in the 1980s. Newcomer Australian actor Devon Terrell will be playing the man himself.

The President was born in 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii to a white mother and a black father. He went to Occidental College in Los Angeles, then he transferred to Columbia in 1981. This is where the film takes place.

Netflix said this about it:

“[Barry explores] a pivotal year in the life of the future 44th President of the United States, during which he developed the foundations for his views on race, government, and what it means to be American.”

Netflix paid a whopping $4.5 million for the rights to the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September.

This is the film’s official synopsis:

“A young Barack Obama, known to his friends as “Barry,” arrives in New York City in the fall of 1981 to begin his junior year at Columbia University. In a crime-ridden and racially charged environment, Barry finds himself pulled between various social spheres and struggles to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates.Barry is the story of a young man grappling with those same issues that his country, and arguably the world, are still coming to terms with 35 years later. Only on Netflix December 16.”

I will definitely be watching this one. Those of us who love Obama and his policies will be sad to see him go in January. He has been a very classy, dignified president. Getting a glimpse into his past may be quite illuminating.
