Melania Shows Just How Little She Knows About Being A First Lady

In an op-ed by Hadley Freeman published in The Guardian, the journalist brings up Melania Trump’s response to the possibility of her husband becoming President back in 2000 where she set her sites on a comparison of herself with Jackie Kennedy and Betty Ford.

Of course in 2000, and all the way up to election day, no one really thought President-elect Donald Trump would get anywhere near the presidency, but unfortunately, we are now left holding the ostentatious bag filled with ridiculous presidential rhetoric and a very confused new First Lady. In 2000 she stated she wanted to be a First Lady that is:

“Very traditional-like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy.”

Okay, I know that Melania is not from this country, nor was she anywhere near it when Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy were gracing the White House but traditional is not the word you would use to describe either one of those women.

Betty Ford was a fierce feminist who was widely known for her honest commentary to the nation about women’s rights, her marriage, and her struggle with addiction. Mrs. Ford was so open and wanting to help that when she left the White House, she opened the infamous Betty Ford Clinic where thousands of people are assisted in beating addiction in the First Lady’s name.

Jackie Kennedy brought a new modern look to the white house that created a First Lady that was more than just the woman behind the President, but someone in control of her own.

From what Melania has shown us from her anti-bullying campaign announced the night after her own husband viciously bullied someone, doesn’t quite land her on track with Ford or Kennedy. I guess only time will tell but since she calls her husband an amazing spouse since he is okay with her getting a message, I do not see this situation too hopeful.
