Palin Says Trump’s Carrier Deal Reeks Of ‘Crony Capitalism’

What’s this? Trouble in paradise? It sure looks that way.

Sarah Palin, who has wholeheartedly supported Donald Trump since he announced his run for the White House, is now taking potshots at the President-elect for the deal he made with Carrier which will keep about 800 jobs at a manufacturing plant in Indiana.

In an editorial she wrote for the website Young Conservatives, Palin argues:

“Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.”

Palin added:

“A business must have freedom to locate where it wishes. In a free market, if a business makes a mistake (including a marketing mistake that perhaps Carrier executives made), threatening to move elsewhere claiming efficiency’s sake, then the market’s invisible hand punishes. Thankfully, that same hand rewards, based on good business decisions.”

Are you getting all of that, Donald? Most Republicans have a devout attachment to the theory of free markets, competition, and survival of the fittest. How dare you step in and call into question their most fundamental beliefs!

The failed half-term governor of Alaska also brought up the specter of debt in her op-ed:

“$20 trillion debt-ridden country can’t afford this sinfully stupid practice, so vigilantly guard against its continuance, or we’re doomed.”

Oddly enough, Palin now finds herself on the same side with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who said the Carrier deal tells corporations they can get massive tax breaks (Carrier received $7 million worth of tax relief) as long as they threaten to export jobs.

Palin ended her rant with this warning:

“If the extra costs of staying in Indianapolis erode that business, those workers will lose their jobs eventually in any case. Workers don’t prosper when politicians force companies to make non-economic decisions.”

Hmm…sounds a lot like Trump is in hot water with some members of the GOP before he even takes the oath of office.
