Network Scraps KKK Reality Show Claiming Producers’ Misconduct (VIDEO)

Last week, we heard that A&E (the same network that gave us Duck Dynasty) was making an eight-part miniseries based around some families in the white nationalist hate group, the Ku Klux Klan. It was supposed to air next month, but the project has been scrapped.

It already had had one name change: from Generation KKK to Escaping the KKK. The series would’ve followed several families who have members in the KKK. It was discovered that the producers had paid the subjects that were going to be on the show.

The network released the following statement:

“Our goal with this series has always been to expose and combat racism and hatred in all its forms. However, A&E learned last night from the third-party producers who made the documentary that cash payments — which we currently understand to be nominal — were made in the field to some participants in order to facilitate access. While we stand behind the intent of the series and the seriousness of the content, these payments are a direct violation of A&E’s policies and practices for a documentary. We had previously provided assurances to the public and to our core partners — including the Anti-Defamation League and Color of Change — that no payment was made to hate group members, and we believed that to be the case at the time. We have now decided not to move forward with airing this project.”

Many people on social media thought that this series would normalize the Ku Klux Klan and there was an enormous push-back on social media. The network says that they intended to follow these families’ efforts to get out of this group. It also would’ve shown how the organization brainwashes and recruits children.

The KKK already produces so much hate. We don’t need to give them more coverage. They are one of the hate groups who endorsed Donald Trump for president during the election season.
