The House Speaker, Paul Ryan, is trying to defund Planned Parenthood while repealing Obamacare. The GOP is trying to yank away healthcare.
Ryan said that he would defund Planned Parenthood if the House repeals Obamacare later this month. The organization receives 40 percent of its funding from the federal government. This money funds cancer screenings, STD tests, and other basic reproductive health needs. It does not go toward abortions.

Since the House has majority now, this will be a difficult battle to win. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said:
“This is now real. I would give a strong message to every member of Congress that you’re going to hold the bag on this if you try to hide behind a vote. The consequences are real.”
She is right; lives will be lost if we take away healthcare for women.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is also joining the fight, ladies. She said:
“This is a priority for the Republicans. So I just would like to speak individually to women across America: this is about respect for you, for your judgment about your personal decisions in terms of your reproductive needs, the size and timing of your family or the rest, not to be determined by the insurance company or by the Republican ideological right-wing caucus in the House of Representatives. So this is a very important occasion where we’re pointing out very specifically what repeal of the (Affordable Care Act) will mean to women.”
Planned Parenthood was a big topic during the election. It was thrown into the spotlight when some faked videos showing doctors trying to sell baby parts were released. These videos were proven to be fake multiple times, but the GOP was still crying for Planned Parenthood to be defunded.
Paul Ryan is no friend to healthcare of any kind. He is in favor of bringing back the preexisting condition restrictions because sick people cost money. He once said that people under the age of 65 with preexisting conditions are just “uninsurable.”
