MSNBC Panel Goes Off The Rails–Host Shuts Down Trump Surrogate (VIDEO)

A discussion of Donald Trump’s conflicting statements on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election ground to a sudden stop Saturday when MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle dropped the hammer on Trump spokesperson Steve Cortes.

The debate began when Mother Jones editor David Corn told Cortes:

“I pity you, Steve, having to defend Donald Trump on this matter. He’s said so many things that are outright false. Not that he’s a skeptic, that’s a polite way of putting it. He said weeks ago that this wasn’t an issue before the election, that no one knew about this before the election. Why are we raising this issue now?”

Cortes attempted to interrupt Corn, only to have Corn tell him:

“I didn’t interrupt you.”

A visibly agitated Cortes responded:

“I’m not going to sit here and let you condescend to me that way!”

Ruhle stepped in and issued a warning:

“Gentlemen! We’re going to end this right now if you can’t be respectful to one another.”

Corn then noted that Trump had said Wikileaks founder Julian Assange knows more about Russian hacking than American intelligence agencies:

“He said that he knew something ‘special’ about the hacking that he would tell us this past Tuesday and Wednesday. He didn’t do that either. He has been spinning or fabricating or saying false and misleading statements on this issue for months and it all ties into the mystifying approach he has toward Russia and Putin.”

To that, Cortes resorted to a favorite tactic for Trump and his entire team: Blame the media:

“What’s false to me is that the mainstream media has been saying for weeks that the election was hacked. The DNC was hacked.

“And the public believes that actual vote tallies were hacked by Russia.”

Ruhle was more than equal to Cortes on that charge, silencing him with this:

“Steve. I’m not going to let you make a generalization about the media because here we are, you and I. I’m not making a generalization about anything. I’m not saying that the election would have been different if the hacking did not happen.”

Once again we see Trump and his surrogates attempting to divert attention from the real issue, the issue which threatens the national security of the United States: Donald Trump’s allegiance to Vladimir Putin and Russia.
