No, that is not satire. There are coins with “In Trump We Trust” printed on them. A Russian company has minted 45 of them right before the Inauguration on Friday. It’s meant to show the Russians’ “hopes associated with Trump.”
Vladimir Vasyukhin, director of the “Art-Grani” company, said this about Trump:
“… There are more hopes associated with Trump with regards to the lifting of sanctions; maybe the environment (between the U.S. and Russia) will change.”
All but five of the coins will be cast in silver; the others will be cast in gold. The company says that the coins will cost thousands of dollars, but they haven’t named the exact price.
Now, having merchandise for Inaugurations is not a new practice, but having the Russians making them is weird. Also, these coins are way bigger and cost more than other inauguration coins.
Being a cheesy businessman, Trump has a bunch of Inauguration merchandise he is hawking. There are flags and mugs and coins and more of those stupid red hats.
He is even selling these special Inauguration “member cards.” The tickets to the event are free, so who knows what those cards are for.

The Russian ones have Trump’s image on one side and the Statue of Liberty on the other. The most disgusting part of this is that they have changed the “In God We Trust” on the coin to read “In Trump We Trust.”
As an atheist, I’m not a huge fan of “In God We Trust” being on the money, but putting Trump’s name in that phrase is just plain ridiculous.
The company would like to present one to Trump himself, but they’re not sure of the logistics required for that. It would be hard to give a gift to a United States president from Russia. These coins are ridiculous, and they are a terrible idea.
