Trump’s ‘Unity’ Only Includes ‘Christians’ – Others Need Not Apply (VIDEO)

Yesterday, we swore in our new president, Donald Trump. One of the many things I noticed about his speech is that he mentioned God and religion multiple times.

In one of the mentions, he said:

“The Bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity. We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity.”

It’s funny that he’s speaking about unity after all of the racist and sexist rhetoric he spewed during the campaign.

He also said:

“There should be no fear. We are protected, and we will always be protected… And most importantly, we will be protected by God.”

He is no friend to people who are non-religious. As an atheist, I’m nervous about what might happen under this president.

One time during a rally, he actually singled out and ridiculed non-religious people.

He has pandered to the religious right during his entire campaign. Yes, it may sound like a nice gesture, but as an atheist, I’m wondering if my rights are going to disappear. I’m wondering if Trump will turn us into a theocracy just to pander to his ultra-religious backers.

He’s acting like Christianity is the only faith in the country. He wants to set up a Muslim registry, which is unconstitutional. But will he do this to atheists as well? Where does it end?

Hemant Mehta, a popular atheist blogger, said this about the speech:

“It’s one thing to say God will protect us all; it’s another for a president to act like Christianity is the only faith that matters in America.”

In contrast, former President Barack Obama said this in his 2009 Inaugural address:

“We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and non-believers.”

Trump didn’t acknowledge us at all. This makes me scared of what is going to happen under President Trump.

Atheists deserve equal rights; 22.8 percent of Americans are non-religious. You have alienated us with your words and your actions. I just hope I don’t get arrested by the Trump “thought police.”

Here is Hemant Mehta saying why he could never vote for Trump back in the election:
