Trump Spokeswoman: Mar-A-Lago Trips Make Him Accessible To ‘Regular Americans’… But Memberships Cost $200,000 (VIDEO)

Out of the 33 total days that President Donald Trump has been in office, he has spent exactly one-third of that time at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Florida. According to some estimates, his time at this club has cost taxpayers about $10 million. This total spent in one month is only slightly less than what Obama spent on travel for an entire year.

However, the Trump team is now claiming that these trips are being used as an opportunity for the president to spend time with everyday citizens. Trump spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told CNN that Trump’s trips to Mar-a-Lago make him accessible to “regular Americans.”

A Man Of The (Very Rich) People

According to Donald Trump and his staff, these average folks are the type of people who can afford Mar-a-Lago’s $200,000 membership fee, as well as the $14,000 annual dues. Someone needs to inform them that the membership fee alone is about four times the median household income in the U.S.

CNN has also reported that businesses in the Palm Beach area have “been told to expect the President every weekend until May.” Trump seems to have a very short memory. In the past few years he has spent plenty of time criticizing President Obama for golfing and taking trips at the taxpayers’ expense.

Now it seems like he’s spending most of his time trying to outdo the former president for vacation time and tax dollars spent.

While members at Mar-a-Lago seem to think that his presence there makes him a “man of the people,” it leaves the other 99% of Americans wondering, “if these wealthy club members are ‘the people,’ then who are we?”
