REPORT: Melania Allegedly MISERABLE In Her New Role (VIDEO)

For an office that holds so much political sway, there is something rather peculiar about the idea of having a ‘First Lady’ of the United States.

In terms of qualifications for the position, there is only one. You have to be married to the president of the United States.

The whole concept of a First Lady dates back to Martha Washington herself who was described as such in an 1838 newspaper article. And yet, the ceremonial nature of the role has led to an inconsistency in expectations.

Indeed, according to Lisa M. Burns, author of First Ladies and the Fourth Estate, the position has undergone a process of natural evolution through four successive iterations: a public woman (1900–1929);  a political celebrity (1932–1961); a political activist (1964–1977); and lastly that of a political interloper.

We might be entering into a fifth stage.

That of the political hostage.

First Malady

Reports that First Lady Melania Trump is unhappy with her newfound position should not come as a great surprise to anyone. Body language experts have painted a picture of a marriage that is devoid of any affection.

Video footage of her flinching at the slightest touch from her husband has gone viral. Designers lined up to insist that they would not dress her. Those that dissented from the boycott got shredded.

And according to Trump family friend and stylist Phillip Bloch, Melania has been vocal about how she feels. Speaking to US magazine he said:

“This life wasn’t her dream. It was Donald’s … Truthfully, it’s a lot to cope with.”

Another friend of the family was even less equivocal. Speaking to Raw Story they described the former model as being:

“Unhappy with how her life ended up. She is miserable.”

Still, the office has been filled by 44 other women, and it’s certainly true to say that not all of them shared their husband’s political ambition. Not all of the wives of would-be presidents relish the limelight. Not all want to play host to an endless sea of Washington bores.

This feels different, though.

No Lady No Cry

To begin with, Melania has been thrust into a role that is often expected to enunciate core American values. However, despite having become a citizen in 2006 she appears to be painfully self-conscious about her own sense of national identity

Her decision to stay in New York evokes imagery of a real life Rapunzel trapped atop Trump Tower. Regrettably, there will be no prince to ride in astride a white stallion. No rescue, no ceremonial letting down the hair.

No, for Melania there is only an endless stream of pageantry. Of appearances at Congress where her sole function is to smile whilst receiving unearned adulation. For Melania, there are only the contrived First Lady-like initiatives that begin with an awkwardly delivered speech and end in incessant mocking from evening shows across the networks.

In fact, the position offers her very little. Actually, it’s more than a little sad.

It’s true that Melania is in a purgatory of her own making.

After all, she married into the phoniest of faux American aristocracy and was forced to endure all the gilded titivations that come with the name Trump. She has no doubt had to endure his affairs and rumors of alliances with prostitutes. Who knows how she feels when confronted with evidence that her husband enters the changing rooms of underage beauty pageants without knocking?

Not to mention the whole pussy grabbing incident.

Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy?

At any rate, who really can tell what Melania Trump is going through? Who among us know if her marble cold stare is a cry for help or not?

It sure as hell looks like one.

Of course, she could end it all if she wanted to.

It’s true that no First Lady has ever divorced a sitting President although two — Florence King DeWolfe and Elizabeth Ann Bloomer — became First Lady via their second husband’s ascension to the presidency.

Even so, the thought of being the first to break with tradition must appeal to her on some level?

President Donald Trump might even welcome the move.

A good divorce scandal might distract us all from the mounting evidence of deep and disturbing ties to Russia.

And of the possibility that the President of the United States of America is a fucking traitor.

Relive all of Melania’s most awkward and telling moments.
