WATCH: Trumpette Blasted For Calling Trump’s Beatdown Tweet A ‘Moment Of Levity’

CNN political commentator and frequent spokeswoman/apologist for President Donald Trump Kayleigh McEnany appeared on CNN Sunday morning to, once again, try to defend an asinine tweet from our President. In case you are unaware which tweet it is this time, here is the offender in question:

That would be a tweet from our current President, Donald J. Trump, from back when he appeared on WWE’s professional wrestling programs. However, the CNN logo has been placed over the face of the man Trump is punching, implying that Trump is actually pummeling the network itself. Naturally, Trump started including his new hashtags, calling the network “FraudNewsCNN” and “FNN.”

McEnany tried to brush the video off, telling the assembled guests:

“Look, I think it was intended as a tongue and cheek satirical video, nothing serious and might have made people in his base laugh. … If you have any ounce of comedic laughter in you, you’ll realize that this was a moment of levity. This was a joke, we all know wrestling is fake.”

Commentator Sally Kohn was not pleased by this explanation, and offered a quick and thorough takedown to McEnany’s defense:

“I can’t believe you can defend this. Really? Is there no – my question is – is there no line? If that had been a picture not of the CNN logo but an individual or Jake Tapper’s head he was punching, would that cross a line for you? A picture of Donald Trump holding a bloodied CNN logo? When is it across the line?”

Kohn ended her diatribe by summarizing everything she had said:

“It’s not funny; it’s scary. We have a mounting crisis of violence and hate in this country and the president is contributing to it.”

Trump has regularly incited violence on the campaign trail and since taking office, and his behavior is often, to say the least, not very presidential. CNN has often been a target of both his vague and overt threats due to the network’s generally unflattering coverage of the President. Watch the full CNN conversation below (after the jump):
