JUST IN: Cab Drives Into Crowd At Boston Airport (DETAILS/VIDEO)

Ten people have been taken to the hospital after a cab struck a crowd near Boston’s Logan Airport. According to police, the incident is being treated as a simple accident, not an act of terrorism. The accident happened at the taxi pool, just west of the airport.

The Massachusetts State Police tweeted:

The driver told authorities that he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. The identity of the 56-year-old man who caused the accident has not been released. The authorities have said that he is a Cambridge, Massachusetts, resident.

The police also said:

“At this preliminary point in the investigation, there is no information that suggests the crash was intentional. The driver is currently being interviewed.”

Maj. Frank McGinn, of Troop F, said:

“We discovered that one of the cab drivers in the pool had jumped the curb and struck several other cab drivers who were sitting in a sitting area, a rest area, awaiting their next fares.”

The driver is being very cooperative with the authorities. As of 2:20 p.m., the Boston Emergency Services reports that 10 people were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries related to the crash. Only one of these people was seriously injured.

Many people are on edge and fear that this is terrorism after many other terrorist incidents involving attackers driving into crowds of pedestrians. The authorities have said that this is not terrorism, it is simply a case of “operator error” on the part of the cab driver.

The crash was not intentional.

This did happen during a holiday weekend, which has people fearful. Last year, an incident occurred in Nice, France, in which a driver hit a group of pedestrians, and it turned out to be an attack endorsed by ISIS. This same tactic has been endorsed by ISIS as a way of committing terrorist attacks.

This crash, however, was not an attack. It was a simple accident.
