Could President Trump be considering resignation as a way to make the Russia investigation go away? Is Trump formulating a plan which would provide him immunity from prosecution in exchange for his agreeing to leave the White House?
Tony Schwartz, co-author of Trump’s Art of the Deal, says he’s convinced the president is seeking a way out of the mess he’s in. On Wednesday, Schwartz tweeted out this prediction:
The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and congress leave him no choice.

Trump's presidency is effectively over. Would be amazed if he survives till end of the year. More likely resigns by fall, if not sooner.

In response to questions asked by others on Twitter, Schwartz also noted that he expects Trump to make a deal for immunity in exchange for his agreeing to resign:
“The Russia stuff will be huge. He doesn’t want to go to jail.”
Schwartz also encouraged members of the resistance to keep the pressure on the president and his family:
Trump must be isolated. Resistance every day. The end is near but must keep pressure high.

This isn’t the first time Tony Schwartz has predicted Trump would resign in disgrace. In May, he told CNN:
“I surely believe that at some point over the next period of time he’s going to have to figure out a way to resign.”
Should we be eager to see Trump leave office? Without a doubt. Would Mike Pence be as bad or worse? Hard to say, but it seems safe to say that Pence would at least act like an adult and be less likely to destroy the entire world in a nuclear war.
All we can do is wait, and hope, for this nightmare to end.
