6 Brilliant Photos Of Japan’s Summer Fireworks Festivals That Will Blow Your Mind

Let’s face it:  If you’re an American, actually living in America, life since January 20, 2017 has been rough to say the least. Every day there are multiple instances of people who should have citizens’ best interests at heart, doing everything but having citizens’ best interests at heart. That’s a hard pill to swallow and that pill seems to get bigger and more bitter, by the day.

At times such as this, looking abroad to other ways of life, embracing diversity, and honoring how various cultures celebrate special times, can often ease the constant blows that one’s own struggles cause. Unfortunately, thanks to the Trump administration, there are no shortage of “constant blows.”

One such respite from the pain of watching the American system of government go down the drain at the hands of a billionaire and his privileged posse, is the beautiful displays of fireworks that are held across Japan in July and August. Gifted young photographer, Keisuke, elegantly captures the amazing shows on his Instagram page.

This tradition, known as “hanabi taikai” also creates a bit of friendly competition. Pyrotechnicians compete to create the best show, check out the pictures below and decide which one(s) you like most:
